June 1st: Introduction to Indigo Dyeing Workshop with Adina Marguerite
June 1st: Introduction to Indigo Dyeing Workshop with Adina Marguerite
Get your hands in some indigo dye on Saturday, June 1st from 10am-12pm(ish).
This is designed to be an introductory workshop to share the basics of dyeing with indigo from a ready- made kit. We’ll play with easily available types of resist like rubber bands, clothes pins, binder clips, glue; and experiment with multiple dips to create deeper tones and ombre effects.
Participants will each receive a pair of flour sack dish towels and a cotton bandana to dye with. You are also welcome to bring your own pre-washed natural fiber items to dye - think cotton, linen, silk, or wool - with no more than 20% synthetic fibers.
It is recommended that participants bring a pair of fresh elbow length kitchen gloves, an apron, and wear clothing and shoes which can get splattered with indigo dye.
If the weather is favorable, the workshop will take place outside - so please bring sun protection. If it’s raining the workshop will take place in our studio space.
